UFC Fight Night Austin is back yet again and this time again, the main card is as exciting as it gets. One of the most exciting fights on the card was the welterweight bout between Kelvin Gastelum and Sean Brady. Gastelum has previously fought at middleweight and will be looking forward to taking on Brady in this new weight division.

While Gastelum is coming off a win over Chris Curtis, Brady had his 15-win streak broken in his last encounter with Belal Muhammad back in October 2022. Both the fighters have big things on the line as Gastelum’s win would surely make him one of the top ten in a new division and Brady could use a win too. So how did the match go and who was called out? Let’s dive in.

Sean Brady was a complete beast at UFC Fight Night Austin. He did not let Gastelum slip out of his grip, completely dominating him for three rounds. Similar themes would follow each round, Brady would take his opponent down and wear him down on the mat trying to get a submission hold.

In the third round, he finally succeeded in getting a Kimura hold on Gastelum’s arm. This would make him tap out very soon making Brady the winner. Once he had the win, he had his eyes set on none other than Ian Garry. A rising Irish star who has been taking a lot of slack from many fighters lately.

“I can beat anybody at 170,” he said in the post-fight interview. “And if Ian Garry gets through Luque. I want that. I’ll maul your boy. Let’s go.” Said a very confident Brady as the interview ended right in front of Dana White’s eyes who was sitting in the audience. Garry himself is heading into a fight against Vincente Luque at UFC 296.

The young star has been catching a lot of hate from fighters of late. Especially from the middleweight champion Sean Strickland who got into a spat with him over his wife. Afterwards, Garry uploaded a video threatening a move to middleweight to fight Strickland but it looks like he may be closer to fighting Brady if he gets the win since both of them are in the same weight class.

Why is Ian Garry in everyone’s crosshair?

One of the biggest reasons? He’s good at what he does. The fighter is currently 13 and 0 in his record. That’s most likely one of the biggest reasons people want to see him either as an opponent, or as an entertainer fighting someone else. Another reason? Garry is making headlines.

“The more people talk, the harder I work,” said Garry. “I’ve got more people to prove wrong. It’s not fueling me. It’s p*ssing me off. Now we’ve got, I might have to win a middleweight world title before I win the welterweight.” Garry said in a recent post. He has beef with Sean Strickland because of the “succubus” comments he made about his wife. Now, a lot of attention is coming his way both positive and negative. Do you think him and Brady should fight?
