Sean Brady is set to take on Kelvin Gastelum at the upcoming UFC Fight Night in Austin, Texas. Brady is currently ranked no. 9 in the UFC’s welterweight division. And despite his last fight against Belal Muhammad at UFC 280 ending in a loss for him, the American is determined to get back to his winning ways.

Brady is also known by the fans for his impressive collection of tattoos. While other UFC fighters like Israel Adesanya display their love for anime by etching their body with art, Brady has stated that he is “addicted” to getting tattoos. Let’s explore his ink and the meaning behind it ahead of his next bout!

Sean Brady made his UFC debut against Court McGee in 2019. Since then, Brady has only suffered the only one loss inside the Octagon which came against Belal Muhammad. He holds notable victories over fighters like Michael Chiesa and Jake Mathews.

Brady has also grabbed the fan’s attention with his tattoo which features a Japanese-style drawing that covers his entire back. After his win against Mathews at UFC 259, Brady shared, “My back tattoo was a sponsor, the guy started tattooing me and he started to sponsor me like I would put his logo on my banners when I fought.”

He also shared that his leg tattoos came as a result of him trading private jiu-jitsu lessons with a friend who obliged him by doing the ink work. He also stated, “I’ll be covering and taking tattoos off for the rest of my life. It’s kind of an addiction.”

In another interview with the Cage Side podcast, Brady revealed that he intends to get a full-body tattoo in the Japanese style. And also shared that the massive back tattoo was one of the most painful experiences he has had!

But surely, Brady isn’t one to back off in the face of a challenge, be it a full-body tattoo or his opponent’s weight fluctuations.

Kelvin Gastelum and his past weight issues don’t concern Brady

Kelvin Gastelum’s return to the 170-pound division surprised Brady, but he views it as an opportunity to test his skills against an experienced fighter.

In a recent interview with Fight Nation on SiriusXM, Brady revealed that he was initially expecting to face Vicente Luque. However, he welcomed the change and sees Gastelum as a true welterweight. Brady also expressed excitement about facing Gastelum, who has a rich history of battles with top-tier opponents like Jacare Souza and Michael Bisping.

While acknowledging Gastelum’s history of missing weight, Brady expressed confidence in Gastelum making the welterweight limit this time. He stated, “He’s a professional, so hopefully he does what he’s supposed to do. And listen, if he misses by a couple, I know Kelvin is probably getting some big paychecks, so I’ll take that 30 percent.”
