Some people manage to stay away from controversies, while others find it difficult to do so. Then there is Sean Strickland, who tries his best to never be away from controversies! One of his most famous controversies has been his remarks on fellow UFC fighter Rose Namajunas and her coach Pat Barry.
For over a decade, Namajunas and Barry have been romantically involved, after meeting at the renowned Roufusport gym. Despite their age difference—Namajunas being 30 and Barry 43, the couple has found support and strength in each other. However, Sean Strickland has been openly questioning and criticizing their relationship, making controversial allegations and insinuations.

It seems like Strickland is not okay with the idea of a coach dating his student. In 2022, Strickland went on a ranting spree on Twitter, calling out other such coach-student relationships. Recently, his teammate and fellow UFC fighter Chris Curtis revealed the story of Strickland confronting the couple in question here.
When Sean Strickland confronted Rose Namajunas and Pat Barry
Curtis, who has been Strickland’s teammate for a long time, revealed this story on the Bloody Elbow podcast. The incident dates back to UFC 268 when Curtis was making his UFC debut. Namajunas was also fighting in the PPV. While on their way to the fight venue, Strickland started confronting Barry and his partner.

“It was my debut fight. We were on the bus and Rose and Pat are there. And Sean just immediately starts going in and it just doesn’t stop. And we’re on the way to the venue and I’m like, ‘Bro, I’m in my own head, they are in their own head.’ She lost that fight and that’s the one they blamed you for, right? In all fairness, I’m with Rose on this one. We are on our way to the f**king thing and Sean is like, ‘So how old was she?’.”
