UFC bantamweight champ, Sean O’Malley dismantled his opponent, Marlon Vera back in UFC 299, asserting himself as the true king of the division. However, his climb to excellence is not yet completed as a Georgian is hot on his trail aiming to become the next UFC bantamweight champ. And it isn’t the fighter who he called out during his post-fight interview, but the no.1 ranked contender, Merab Dvalishvili.

Merab Dvalishvili, the no.1 UFC bantamweight contender has plowed through the division to try and aim for UFC glory. However, O’Malley seems to be aiming for a second title in the featherweight division, dismissing Dvalishvili’s claim to a shot for the title. But Dvalishvili isn’t taking his dismissal lightly going at O’Malley every chance he gets. Former double champ, Daniel Cormier looks to admire “The Machine’s” tactics of baiting the bantamweight champ into a title fight.

Cormier in the recent episode stated, “Merab Dvalishvili tried to be messy when he took his jacket back in the day. It got weird. Sean O’Malley started saying Ilia Topuria. Merab then, when he doesn’t get called up decides I gotta be messy again. Do you feel by Merab’s approach right? You’re ducking me you’re afraid. This is why now Sean’s like, you know what, let me deal with this guy because you and I both know it seemed like it was always going to be this. But now he got it because he kept messing with him and messing with him and messing with him. Now he’s got the Champ’s attention.”

Dvalishvili’s antics certainly seem to have gotten to the 29-year-old champ as he would go on to respond to the Georgian’s callouts. The callout was successful, but how did Sean O’Malley respond to the callout?0

All the constant callouts and narrative of Sean O’Malley ducking Merab Dvalishvili certainly seem to have gotten to the UFC  bantamweight champion. During a recent podcast episode, O’Malley finally agreed to fight Merab Dvalishvili, claiming that he was never ducking him, but was just uninterested in the fight. He would also put in a subtle warning for the champ in his response.

Sean O’Malley while responding to the callout stated, “Merab’s [Dvalishvili] next. Merab is fu**ing next. Your wish is granted. A lot of people said I’m ducking him. I just really am not ducking that little dude. I like the fight for me, there’s multiple ways to win, I’m excited about the fight now, finally…The time will come to where it’s the right time to fight certain people. Merab’s next and be careful what you wish for, buddy.”
