Sean O’Malley reigned supreme at UFC 299 and it has in all probability helped his bank account by a lot. O’Malley defended his title successfully and perhaps, more importantly, secured a victory over the only fighter he ever lost to. Clearly, there was more on the line than just the belt.

Now, O’Malley has plans for his next title. You read that right, not title defense, but his next title. O’Malley wants to be a champ-champ like many others in the past as he moves on forward. Did he earn so much by keeping just one title that he wants two? Here’s more.

Sean O’Malley richer by at least seven figures

Sean O’Malley went up against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292 and clinched the belt away. It was then that ‘Suga’ reportedly made about $1.43 million. A large sum for any individual, O’Malley kept going and now has secured a unanimous decision win over Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera.

In an Instagram post, he commended Vera for his unbreakable chin that tanked a brutal knee from the champ in the second round. He also told his fans of his “successful” Miami trip. Many estimated that this time around, just for being the champion and bringing in so many eyes to the fight, O’Malley would probably earn at least $2 million. While his official earnings have not been disclosed, they’re easily over a million dollars.

It is known, however, that O’Malley earned about $42,ooo for his Promotional Guidelines Compliance at the UFC. This is a payout based on the promotion’s multi-year Venum deal that pays fighters based on the number of bouts in the promotion.

Naturally, O’Malley’s payout was the highest given his long record as well as the fact that he is the champion. Now, to be a double divisional champ, he has challenged none other than the featherweight crown of the UFC, Ilia Topuria for a fight in Spain.

O’Malley and ambition go hand-in-hand

Sean O’Malley called out Ilia Topuria from within the cage as Joe Rogan approached him for the post-fight interview. “Dana, give me a jet to Spain baby, I’m coming for Ilia Topuria.” He said. “. . . I want Ilia baby, give me Ilia. . . He’s a scary f*cking dude. Ilia excites me, going up a weight class excites me.”

“But I’m, honestly, I’m here for whatever, if you guys want me to knock out Merab [Dvalishvili] I’ll do that too but Ilia’s an exciting fight for the people.” Topuria would soon respond to the callout congratulating O’Malley on his performance as well as passing his judgment on the callout.

The featherweight champ suggested ‘Suga’ to fight off Merab Dvalishvili first and then come for a second title. Will ‘The Machine’ finally get the fight that he’s earned after defeating Henry Cejudo? What is your take on it? Let us know in the comments.
