Since then there has been much speculation as to who the fighter will face next. Recently there were rumors that O’Malley will face Louis Smolka at UFC 264. ‘Sugar’ had been calling out various top-ranked bantamweight fighters. However, no fight could be finalized.

Talking about that O’Malley said, “ Honestly, it was the first name the UFC offered me. I was calling out to you know Pedro on Twitter, Dominick Cruz on Twitter, Petr Yan.

“You know I knew I was gonna get that Petr Yan fight, but I maybe I was like you never know, he might think I su*k. I said you might want a little warm-up fight before your rematch with Aljo. Maybe he’ll take it.”

While a fight with any top-ranked fighter could not be finalized, O’Malley is ready to fight Smolka.

“Ya, you know I wanted a bigger name. But they are not gonna pay me anymore to fight Petr than to fight Louis so. You know I’ll take Smolka, take him serious, you know he’s a legitimate opponent.

“A lot of people believe I should be fighting a top 15, top 10 I agree. UFC wants me to fight Smolka I’ll fight Smolka. Still haven’t signed the contract yet. Sean Shelby said, no it’s happening, so we will see.”

Dana White confirms Sean O’Malley vs Louis Smolka at UFC 264

During a recent interview, Dana White confirmed the fight between Sean O’Malley and Smolka. When asked whether O’Malley will face Smolka at UFC 264, the UFC President responded with a yes. The fight will be added to an already epic match card that is said to be headlined by the fight between Poirier and McGregor.
