Being away from action hasn’t kept Sean O’Malley less busy than he usually is. With him recently joining the commentary team for the Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal boxing event, the UFC bantamweight champion showcased the range of his commentary skills. But guess what? O’Malley dropped a bombshell regarding his next title defense. ‘Suga’ is heavily pushing to fight at the Sphere in Las Vegas.

The UFC event at the Sphere this September is probably Dana White‘s biggest undertaking as a promoter. The arena, known for being a visual spectacle, had the UFC CEO head over heels when he first visited it to watch Irish rock band U2, who were the first artists to ever perform at the $2.3 billion-worth structure. As such, Sean O’Malley doesn’t want to miss out on an opportunity to fight there as well.

Sean O’Malley wants Dana White to put him on the Sphere card

The Nate Diaz vs Jorge Masvidal 2 PPV card wasn’t as strong as many of the other boxing events’ cards, but would you believe it? Sean O’Malley appeared to be the highlight of the event due to his amazing commentary chops in the event. However, he did not fail to capitalize on the opportunity to tell the viewers about his next title defense. It seems like O’Malley has a demand that needs fulfilling.

“Hoping for the sphere in Vegas but if not it’ll be in DECEMBER, we are pushing for it (The Sphere) but nothing confirmed,” said Sean O’Malley during the broadcast of the Diaz vs Masvidal 2 PPV. He seems to be only targeting defending his title in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, it’s important to note that many people have expressed wanting to fight at the Sphere, especially Conor McGregor. But who will get the ultimate spot or will Dana White accommodate them both? Well, that remains to be seen.

As per the current championship scene in the bantamweight division goes, Merab Dvalishvili seems to be the prime contender for a title shot and Sean O’Malley is aware of that. As such, he had been calling for a fight at the Sphere at UFC 306, for which the fight card is still under discussion, and now he has doubled down on that demand. However, nothing’s official yet. Meanwhile, the UFC seems to have one big fight at hand for UFC 306 as of now.

Could there be a featherweight title fight at the Sphere?

Recently, 145-pound champion Ilia Topuria and former featherweight champion and current BMF, Max Holloway, traded verbal barbs online due to a disagreement. Both of them claim to be ducking the other. Thereafter, Topuria made his intentions clear that he’ll be ready to fight Holloway whenever and wherever ‘Blessed’ wants. “Choose a date, choose the way you want me to beat you, and write it here. I am ready to turn off your lights whenever and wherever. Call Dana,” the champion stated.

As expected, a reply came from the former featherweight champion, claiming that he’s already engaged in a dialog with the UFC matchmakers. And guess what? Max Holloway is willing to fight Ilia Topuria in Las Vegas in the $2.3 billion arena. “Been talking to them brother. You need to check your numbers. Since you said it the Sphere by toe hold. See you soon,” Holloway responded.
