UFC 299 witnessed a successful bantamweight title defense by Sean O’Malley against Marlon Vera. ‘Suga’ completely dominated ‘Chito’ throughout the match and won the bout by way of a unanimous decision. After the match, ‘Suga’ called out Ilia Topuria for a fight but missed the bantamweight contender Merab Dvalishvili out of his mouth. ‘The Machine’ was not happy with the way ‘Suga’ ignored him. Backstage, Dvalishvili pointed toward O’Malley and called him out stating that he should have mentioned his name.

Since then, Dvalishvili has been calling out Sean O’Malley to give him his deserved title shot. It must be noted that ‘Suga’ stated that he will be facing Dvalishvili soon but he first wanted to run his skills against the featherweight champion, Ilia Topuria but seems like things have changed now. In his latest, escapade, O’Malley clarified his stance on fighting against ‘The Machine’

Sean O’Malley’s arch nemesis was Marlon Vera but at the UFC 299 witnessed that ‘Suga’ has grown from it as well and now he wants more from his career. The bantamweight champion seems to be inching towards the champ-champ status with a match against Ilia Topuria but seems like he has a challenge in front of him in the shape of Merab Dvalishvili. The Georgian has time and time again stated that he deserves the title shot more than anyone and well his statement is correct.

To look at it from a neutral perspective, Dvalishvili has one of the most dominant records in the UFC’s bantamweight division. The Georgian is riding a ten-fight winning streak and his last fight against Henry Cejudo was such a dominant performance from him that the community started doubting Cejudo’s skills, who is a former dual weight champion and an Olympic medalist.

Nonetheless, after a lot of hubbub, Sean O’Malley seems to have finally made a statement regarding a match against Dvalishvili. “I’m trying to get it booked ASAP. The only issue is, that some of the next pay-per-views aren’t in the country, and I’m not fighting out of the country. They have other people who have other places. But I’m ready to go, I’m f****** wanting to book a fight ASAP… God I just want to hit Merab with that knee, boom, flatline him.” said O’Malley in a conversation on TImbosugarshow.

During the same podcast, ‘Suga’ came forward to state that the fight between him and Garcia would materialize soon enough. “I still gotta become bigger. Two more f***ing sick performances, then we’re talking about being able to do whatever the f*** we want. They [UFC management] told me, ‘You can do a boxing fight one hundred percent if it makes us enough money’,” said O’Malley. He further added, “The option is there, it just has to be able to make enough money but Ryan [Garcia] being a fu**ing freak like that, you need two A-sides to make a fu**ing Floyd-Conor fight.”

Sean O’Malley has options now considering the fact that he is the champion. Will he be facing Merab Dvalishvili next? or will it be a crossover between him and Garcia? State your thoughts in the comments below.
