UFC CEO Dana White’s “greatest live combat sports show anybody has ever seen” promise seems to be taking shape! The UFC 306 event or ‘Riyadh Season: Noche UFC’ set to be held at the technological marvel that is ‘The Sphere’ in Las Vegas, has now received its main event. Speaking on ‘The Pat McAfee’ show, the UFC boss had claimed, “I’m already $17 million into this thing and we’re not anywhere near September yet.”

Now, UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley has sent the MMA sphere buzzing with a recent update on his YouTube channel. Sharing his excitement with the fandom, O’Malley stated, “What’s up guys, you’ve probably heard the news by now, I talked to the UFC, we’re 9 weeks out from this fight. It’s happening, the Suga Show is main event in The Sphere against Merab.”

Prior to the confirmation of O’Malley’s inclusion, speculation was running wild amongst the fans as to who would get the honor to take part in this one-of-a-kind event. Names like Conor McGregor, Ilia Topuria, Max Holloway, and Michael Chandler were all gunning for a slot on the highly anticipated card.

As such, O’Malley further revealed, “Ilia, Max, were pushing for the fight. Conor wanted in on the sphere, Chandler wanted the sphere, everybody in the UFC wants the sphere because its going to happen one time and one time only. Supposedly this event is never going to happen ever again and I get to headline it.”

The excitement isn’t just about the fight itself but also the production value and the unique experience The Sphere offers. O’Malley emphasized the level of effort going into this event, indicating that it’s not just a regular fight but a cinematic experience. “I’m going to have to put in some actual work during this promotion because of this. There’s just the level that’s going into this,” he said.

The fight between O’Malley and Dvalishvili already has a lot of build-up behind it as ‘Suga’ had knocked out Aljamain Sterling, Dvalishvili’s friend and training partner to secure the bantamweight throne. And so, earlier this year, Dvalishvili had proclaimed that he might surprise a lot of people once the two step into the Octagon together!

Merab Dvalishvili hands O’Malley a warning for their fight

Merab Dvalishvili is ready for his shot at the UFC bantamweight title! With a 10-fight winning streak which includes names of former champions like Henry Cejudo, Jose Aldo and Petr Yan, the Georgian fighter has proven himself a top contender and worthy of the no.1 spot in the bantamweight division rankings that he currently holds.

In an interview with ‘The Schmo’ in March, Dvalishvili confidently stated, “Don’t be surprised, I may knock him out because he is very confident and I have some skills. I’m getting better and I’m training and I can knock out O’Malley, I believe so.”  This fight not only gives Dvalishvili a chance to win the bantamweight title but also to avenge his friend Aljamain Sterling’s loss to ‘Suga’ and bring the title back to their team.

The upcoming showdown promises to be a thrilling affair for MMA fans, combining top-tier fighting talent with an unprecedented viewing experience.
