The year 2023 has to be one of the best years for Sean Strickland in his career. “Tarzan” gave the world of UFC the biggest upset of the year and that was his win against Israel Adesanya. He seized the coveted middleweight title at UFC 293 in September. Strickland came in as a replacement for Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 292 and delivered a stunning performance.

This weekend, he is set to ͏defend his title for the first time against Dricus Du Plessis. As we look forward to his defense, a lingering question arises: Who has managed to defeat Strickland thus far?

Strickland has participated in a total of 33 professional MMA contests. Out of these, he emerged victorious in 28 bouts, showcasing a versatile skill set that includes 11 wins via knockout, 4 via submission, and 13 via decision. On the flip side, he faced defeat in 5 matches, experiencing 2 knockouts and 3 submissions.

Strickland has lost 5 fights in his career and all of it came in the UFC. Strickland was beaten by Santiago Ponzinibbio by a unanimous decision back in 2015. The second loss of his career came against Kamaru Usman. Strickland lost the battle via another unanimous decision.

The third loss of his career came against Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos. In the first round, Tarzan succumbed to a knockout (KO) or technical knockout (TKO) from a well-placed kick at the 3-minute and 40-second mark. The fourth loss of his career came against Alex Pereira. Strickland was knocked out by Pereira in 2 minutes 36 seconds of Round 1 of their bout. His final loss was against Jared Cannonier on December 17, 2022. His next fight is with Dricus Du Plessis and it will be his first title defense.
