Boxing and MMA are starting to intertwine with the help of the media. With stars such as Kamaru Usman wanting to fight Canelo Alvarez, the bridge between both worlds seems to solidify further. Although it will be a boxing bout if it ever happens, the two previously disconnected worlds are now a lot closer than people think.

Fighters from both sides have stated that they want to battle each other. Both sports have their own perks, and combatants are eager to capitalize on them within the prime of their careers.

Apart from just wanting to fight each other, there’s also mutual respect between some of them. With that being said, real recognizes real. In line with that, unified world welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr praised the UFC’s welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman.

In an interview with ‘The Schmo’ after a training session, ‘The Truth’ said, “Oh yeah definitely, Usman tough he’s very physical, and he’s the guy that you know, that has been. He trained with my coach before, so he got a little stand-up game. Kind of seen him knock out a few guys with his with his straight right.

After ‘The Schmo’ asked him whether the fight would end in a knockout or lead to a decision, Spence Jr concluded, “I don’t know, but I know Usman more than I know Canelo, so I would be on Usman’s side for that fight.”

Kamaru Usman wants to fight Canelo Alvarez 

The number one pound for pound fighter in the UFC wants to fight Canelo Alvarez in a boxing match. Being a unified world heavyweight champion, Alvarez is boxing’s biggest draw currently.

Talking about wanting to fight Canelo, Usman stated, “I think that’s something that [would be] the biggest ever in history.” He continued, “That’s what I’m looking to do. That’s something that scares me. That’s something that gets me up in the morning. That’s something that I might risk leaving my daughter for another 12 weeks for.”

With regards to the business aspect of setting up the fight, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare‘ continued, “We’re both in the business of entertainment nowadays. He’s gonna entertain on the same night. So will we. We’ll see who does better numbers and then we’re gonna sit there and we’ll have a discussion with the pound-for-pound best promoter in the game Dana White and we’ll try to make something happen.” 

The Nigerian champion wants to fight Canelo Alvarez during his prime, believing he will go down in history. However, he isn’t wrong as both champions are dominant in their respective sports and will only get better with time.

Primes don’t last forever, though, and the Nigerian champ wants to fight Alvarez as soon as possible.
