“Send Location”: After Mark Zuckerberg, Liverpool Soccer Club Legend Channels His Inner Khabib Nurmagomedov While Reacting to a Picture of the Former UFC Champ

Former UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (29-0) retired as a coach and distanced himself completely from MMA in January 2023 to focus on his family. And a picture he posted on his Instagram account surrounded by his friends and family shows he is doing precisely that. The picture is taken on a football field. The caption read “The young ones have already scored”.

The picture shows Khabib with his cousins and friends. These include his former stablemate and current UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makachev (22-1); his cousins Usman Nurmagomedov, and Abubakar Nurmagomedov; Bellator fighters Islam Mamedov and Kadik; Eagle FC fighter Zainukov Makkasharip; and Gadzhi Rabadanov, and Amru Magomedov.

In a cheeky comment on Khabib’s post, the Ireland and Liverpool FC legend footballer Ian Rush wrote: “Send location… il send you a @liverpoolfc kit 😅”.

Rush, who remains the highest goal scorer for Liverpool FC even 27 years after his retirement wants Khabib and his boys to represent the Reds in their friendly matches in Dagestan.

Unquestionably, this was a reference to the infamous phrase Khabib used against Conor “Notorious” McGregor (22-6) when the latter challenged him to a street fight in the buildup to their infamous clash at UFC 229. Khabib won the bout with a fourth-round submission and went after Conor’s teammate Dillon Danis after the fight was over.

Khabib retired the as a fighter following his victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in 2020 in part due to his father’s death. His former coach, Javier Mendes, revealed Khabib’s reason for retiring from coaching in an interview with Yahoo Sport’s Kevin Iole back in January 2023.

“He just doesn’t want to miss being a father,” Mendez said. “He talked to me about three weeks ago and told me of his plan and said he planned to talk to the team and inform them of his decision. He’s doing this for the right reasons. He’s a family man and he simply wants to spend more time with his family.”
