Khabib Nurmagomedov retired with an unbeaten professional record in MMA. The Russian-born superstar is one of the most recognizable names and faces in the world of sports. Interestingly, ‘The Eagle’ is a fan of sports even outside of the Octagon. For example, the unbeaten fighter enjoys football and especially Dagestani basketball.

Recently, Nurmagomedov shared a photo of him and Islam Makhachev, playing Dagestani basketball. Khabib wrote, “Need to do this again,” in Russian. Makhachev made a hilarious comment on the post responding “Send me location”.

We all still remember Nurmagomedov saying “send me location” several times during his beef with Conor McGregor. Makhachev’s comical take on this post is priceless. Before UFC 229, Nurmagomedov said these words to respond strongly to McGregor, who was supposedly challenging the Dagestani for a brawl outside the octagon.

Interestingly, Khabib can be seen playing barefoot here. And, Bellator’s Welterweight Kyle Crutchmer commented, “We still haven’t played for those shoes brother..”. Moreover, Crutchmer and Nurmagomedov have trained together several times at AKA.

‘The Eagle’, who is great at wrestling, has also impressed us with his striking game. Defeating opponents like Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje is no easy task for a fighter, even today. But we can witness Khabib’s talents beyond the octagon too. Since his retirement, ‘The Eagle’ is paving his way to become an Elite MMA Promoter.

Outside the world of MMA, Nurmagomedov appreciates sports like football and Dagestani basketball. Dagestani basketball is a homegrown sport in Russia, which is a mix of wrestling and basketball. Unlike the regular Basketball there are no traveling violations, no out-of-bounds rule, and perhaps most noticeable, no fouls.

This modified sport that loosely resembles basketball is supposedly introduced by Khabib Nurmagomedov to the Western World. “I will show you Dagestani basketball… Only one rule: Don’t hurt yourself,” spoke Khabib.

There is indeed something about Dagestan, a place that just churns out an enormous amount of talent in MMA. This is probably another reason even basketball over there is almost like a combat sport.
