Ever since his arrival in the UFC, Michel Pereira has been a hot prospect in the welterweight division. At UFC Fight Night: Holm vs Vieira, Pereira scored a split decision win over fellow welterweight Santiago Ponzinibbio and issued some scathing call-outs. ‘Demolidor’ named the likes of Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz and also revealed his reason for calling out ‘Gamebred’.

Pereira, in the post-fight scrum, said, “He (Jorge Masvidal) sent an emoji to my wife. The folded hand emoji…He sent it to my wife and didn’t send it to me.”

He further added, “I never actually crossed paths with him, never had the chance to ask him, so I figured I really want to understand, but might as well understand inside the octagon.” (via a translator)

Masvidal’s statements come regarding Covington’s pre-UFC 272 claims against the former’s wife and kids. In an interview with Brett Okamoto, Covington said that he did not live on Masvidal’s couch, but he lived on his wife’s couch.

Covington added that Masvidal’s wife had done a lot for the duo, like giving them a roof over their head, putting food on the table, and even cleaning the house.
