41-year-old Clay Guida is one of the longest-tenured UFC fighters of all time. He recently went head-to-head against Joaquim Silva but failed to secure a victory at UFC Austin. Meanwhile, CEO Dana White revealed that he had a conversation with Joe Rogan about Guida after his fight concluded.

‘The Carpenter’ made his debut in Dana White’s promotion in 2006 at UFC 64. Since then, he’s continued to fight under the UFC banner and has racked up a record of 38 wins and 21 losses. At 41 years of age, Clay Guida continues to show the same passion for fighting as Dana White revealed his thoughts about the UFC veteran during the post-fight press conference. Let’s see what he had to say.

Dana White told Joe Rogan about the “chin” of Clay Guida

During the post-fight press conference, Dana White was asked about Clay Guida’s performance against Joaquim Silva at UFC Austin. He mentioned how he’s been fighting for more than a decade and a half, which prompted the UFC CEO to reveal what he told Joe Rogan about ‘The Carpenter’.

He said, “I was literally saying to [Joe] Rogan during the fight, ‘How about the chin on him still?'” The 54-year-old promoter was surprised to see that Clay Guida was willing to fight the same way he’s been fighting ever since joining the UFC. That energy and passion impressed Dana White. “The wars that guy has been in, and he still has a chin, and still willing to mix it up and stand in the pocket and trade [strikes],” he further stated.

The most impressive thing was not that the 41-year-old had the same passion for the sport from the time he started fighting. Instead, it was the fact that he went all three rounds against a much younger Joaquim Silva. “He looked great tonight, especially against the young and well-rounded stud like [Joaquim] Silva,” Dana White added.

Joaquim Silva just edged past the veteran in an entertaining fight

Clay Guida may be in his 40s, but nobody can take away the experience he’s garnered over the years as an MMA fighter. Similarly, he did not give Joaquim Silva an easy win. Guida added yet another entertaining fight to his UFC career at Moody Center. He came out all guns blazing in an attempt to put pressure on Silva with some heavy combinations.

However, ‘The Carpenter’ became a little overzealous as ‘Netto BJJ’ hit him with a stiff uppercut. This almost led to the finish but that was not the end of the fight. In the end, the fight went for all three rounds as Joaquim Silva got the judges to score in his favor and declare him the winner via a unanimous decision.

It remains to be seen how long Clay Guida’s career in the UFC lasts since he’s already 41 years old. But his recent performance looked like he was not done fighting. Guida stands as an example of longevity in MMA and we will have to wait and see who he battles in his next UFC fight.
