What went wrong with Agapova during the submission ?

Maria Agapova dominated the first round as she struck Robertson with a few clean punches and elbows. But, it was in the second round that Robertson slowly started taking control over the fight.

Robertson, clinched her opponent’s back and brought her down to the mat. She choked Agapova’s neck with a strong rear naked Jiu-Jitsu choke. Initially, Agapova hustled to get out of that choke and refused to tap, but after a few seconds it was quite evident that she was nearing a seizure. The commentators went on to say, “She’s not even fighting her hands.”

So I took it upon myself to do my part in popularizing the thrill and the agony behind the purest form of unarmed combat. At EssentiallySports, I try to bring the readers closer to the athletes and focus my coverage on exploring the human side of these martial artists. I’m a musician during my time free from reporting MMA. I operate as the lead vocalist of a rock band that aims to make their mark among the audiences with their original alternative-hard rock songs.
