UFC 275 was an instant hit for the promotion. All the bouts from early prelims to the main event delivered big time. UFC President Dana White couldn’t attend the event but UFC Senior Vice President, International, and Content, David Shaw addressed the post-fight bonuses and the promotion’s plan to get back to the international market.

The first-ever UFC PPV event in Singapore saw fighters who got a finish, Jake Matthews, Silvana Gómez Juárez, Maheshate, Jack Della Maddalena, and Zhang Weili get a $50,000 post-fight bonus. The promotion did the same when they visited London for a UFC event this year.

The headliner received the ‘Fight of the Night’ honors, thus both ‘The Brazilian Pitbull‘ Glover Teixeira and Jiri ‘BJP‘ Prochazka received an extra $50K.

The event had a gate of $1,546,732. UFC’s comeback show in Singapore Indoor Stadium was a sold-out event with 10,787 fans in attendance. Also, it was the 16th straight sold-out event for the company.

David Shaw also provided some important updates about the direction UFC is aiming at for its international run in the coming years.

UFC plans for an International return

The promotion has been rocking the year 2022, with one spectacle after the other. Singapore show put on an all-time classic event which would gather more interest among the new fans from the region.

Shaw gave significant leads about the promotion’s roadmap for the next few years. A prominent name in MMA media, Aaron Bronsteter, gave the pointers about Shaw’s UFC 275 post-fight interview.

Thus, the UFC has Thailand, Brazil, Germany, Scandinavia, and eventually Africa in plans to host a live UFC event. Besides, they will bring the ‘Road to UFC’ series to some specific part of the world, as they did this time for thirty-two Asian athletes.

A live event with the crowd is better than the empty arena

In 2020, the promotion had to host shows with fans in attendance. Though they did a wonderful job of keeping the events going with no fans, the vibe of a fully-packed arena is something magical.

The crowd in Singapore showed how important the fans are. The rematch between Zhang Weili and Joanna Jedrzejczyk saw the crowd going crazy when ‘Magnum‘ landed a spinning back fist that knocked out ‘The Boogeywoman’. Likewise, when Jedrzejczyk announced her retirement, the fans in attendance walked her to the curtains with huge cheers to make the moment special for her.
