Daniel Cormier is a lovable guy. Ask any UFC fighter about ‘DC,’ and the first thing they’d claim is that he is a fun guy to be around, one who knows how to stay calm and is a joy to be with. This is something that Joe Rogan loves about the former heavyweight champion, especially after being aware of the violent capabilities the former UFC fighter has inside of him. A fact that Joe Rogan revealed on his podcast episode #2245.

Being one of the very few who won UFC titles in two weight divisions simultaneously, the former light heavyweight and heavyweight champion became the topic of discussion when Joe Rogan sat down with former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich. The JRE host started by praising Daniel Cormier for dominating his weight class in Strikeforce which he actually shouldn’t have been a part of in the first place. After all, Cormier is 5’11, which is not that large to be a part of the heavyweight category. Despite this, he ruled the division through his wrestling.

It was while discussing his wrestling that Rogan then revealed that, despite having the capability to rag-doll everyone in the room around him, Daniel Cormier remains the nicest guy for all. “He dominated two different divisions. He was a k—er. The nicest f—–g guy you’d ever meet in your life. If you were hanging around him, you would never believe that he could pick up anybody in the room and smash them on their head.”

Through his sheer will and power, Daniel Cormier continued his dominance in the UFC to defeat the likes of Stipe Miocic, Anthony Johnson, and Alexander Gustafsson to finally become a part of the Dana White-led promotion’s Hall of Fame in 2022.

Daniel Cormier picks Alex Pereira in his top-5

Alex Pereira is one of the current UFC stars and has impressed the MMA community with his performances in the octagon. In 2024, the Brazilian risked the light heavyweight belt three times (205 lbs) and brutally knocked out his opponents. While closely following the consolidation of ‘Poatan’ at the top of the category, Daniel Cormier praised him for his achievements during the season.

In an interview with ‘MMA Junkie,’ ‘DC’ placed Pereira in his top 5 of the most important professionals in this sport in 2024. And the UFC Hall of Famer’s choice makes a lot of sense. After all, in just one year, ‘Poatan’ accepted last-minute fights to save company events and knocked out fighters such as Jamahal Hill, Jiri Prochazka, and Khalil Rountree Jr. In this way, the Brazilian, one of the most feared fighters in MMA, became a popularity phenomenon, falling in favor of the UFC’s top brass and fans.

Praising Alex Pereira, Daniel Cormier said, “This man is being said to be one of the greatest of all time, and he is literally an amateur. He’s got 11 pro fights. He’s got 11 or 12 pro fights in his (MMA) career. And he’s talking about maybe he can go to heavyweight and become a three-division champion. There is no one more impactful in terms of a fighter, when it comes to 2024, than Alex Pereira.” In addition to ‘Poatan,’ the veteran also mentioned Conor McGregor, Dana White, Hunter Campbell, and Jon Jones as highlights of the season. But what do you think? Do you agree with Cormier’s list? Let us know in the comments.
