“So Much Respect for Izzy”: Fans React As Israel Adesanya Accepts a Main Event Fight at UFC 287

Some rivalries don’t die easily. Some rivalries begin with kickboxing and evolve into mixed martial arts, too. Just like the rivalry between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira. However, the rivalry never defeated their spirit of sportsmanship. Even after three losses to Pereira, Adesanya showed his confidence in getting a rematch with the ‘Poatan’ and accepted it when the offer arrived. Furthermore, the Brazilian champion also revealed his wish to fight his ultimate rival. To make everyone’s dream come true, Dana Whitegot ‘Poatan’ and the ‘Last Stylebender’ to face each other again in the Octagon in UFC 287, scheduled for 8 April 2023. Without a doubt, the news tore through the internet and raised the spirits of MMA fans. Adesanya stayed undefeated for a while but lost to Pereira. The world believed that it made sense for the two fighters to clash again.

Surprisingly, Adesanya versus Pereira rematch was not the only card that was revealed. The UFC president went live and announced the entire schedule for UFC 287. Undeniably, the event seemed packed with excitement.

Fans go crazy for Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira rematch

The entire world was left gaping as the main event of UFC 281 proceeded. However, with Adesanya’s loss, the UFC fans have craved for a rematch between the old rivals. Surprisingly, White knew about the fans’ desires and decided to provide what the fans wanted. He announced that Adesanya and Pereira would face each other for the 5th time in the main event of UFC 287.

Unquestionably, the MMA fans knew no bounds when they heard the news. Recently, the news was shared by ESPN and the fans took over the comments. Although many fans wished for Adesanya to reclaim the belt, many others believed it would never happen and the results would be the same. Furthermore, almost all of the fans were thankful to White for giving them what they wanted.

The co-main event for UFC 287

White not only announced the main event for UFC 287, but also the co-main event. He declared that Jorge Masvidal would return to the Octagon and stand his ground against Gilbert Burns in a welterweight bout. Unquestionably, the UFC boss took the world by surprise and lifted the spirits with a single live video.

With Pereira vs. Adesanya as well as Masvidal vs. Burns on the same date, UFC fans have gone crazy with excitement for the coming days. However, the world still has eyes on the upcoming lightweight title fight in UFC 284.
