Sodiq Yusuff’s defeat against Edson Barboza

Edson Barboza is a household name in the UFC. ‘Junior’s a veteran in the promotion and his fight against Sodiq Yusuff was a testament to his experience. With over 25 fights in the UFC, Barboza stepped inside the Octagon to take on the young Yusuff. At that time, ‘Super’ was riding a two-fight winning streak which didn’t seem to be enough to subdue the veteran.

The fight started with Yusuff taking control of the fight from the very first round. ‘Super’ threw some marvelous punches towards Barboza’s direction, which worked well as the first round was his. However, the latter took control of the situation in the second round through sheer technique. Subsequently, in the third round, ‘Junior’ threw his signature kick, which left Yusuff in a state of confusion.

After the final bell rung, it was Barboza whose hand was raised to the air for the victory. The stats showcased that both Yusuff and Barboza threw identical 207 and 208 strikes at each other. Notably, this was not the only loss that happened to Yusuff in his career.

Has Sodiq Yusuff lost outside the UFC?

Sodiq Yusuff has a career record of 13 victories and three losses. And, out of those three losses(with one belonging to Edson Barboza), if we talk about at the Nigerian-American fighter’s statistics in the UFC, it screams praiseworthy. The young lad has fought 9 fights in the UFC and has lost only twice.

His second loss in the UFC was against Arnold Allen. Yusuff lost the bout by way of a unanimous decision. As for his third loss, it came against Luis Gomez when he was fighting in the Titan FC.

Having said that, his upcoming bout against Diego Lopes would be a hectic one, as both of them are younglings in the promotion.
