Despite going through a war at UFC 269, Dustin Poirier and Charles Oliveira maintained a level of respect for each other.

Oliveira retained his UFC lightweight title against a game Poirier after submitting him in the third round. After a close two rounds, ‘Do Bronx’ displayed his superior grappling, took his opponent’s back in the third round, and eventually hooked in the rear-naked choke. ‘The Diamond’ had nowhere to go and had to submit.

 After the fight, both fighters embraced each other and spoke. During the conversation, Poirier promised to donate $20,000 to a charity of Oliveira’s choice.

However, in a recent interview with Sherdog, Oliveira had said that he didn’t know if the proposal was good or bad. ‘Do Bronx’ also revealed that he had not been in contact with Poirier, but had spent a lot of time answering questions about the money which he hadn’t received till then.

But now it looks like Poirier has come good on the promise.

‘Do Bronx’ and ‘The Diamond‘ are two guys that always try to give back to society. While Poirier’s foundation, ‘The Good Fight‘, tries to help underserved communities, Oliveira always gives back to the people.

Now it seems like Poirier has come good on the $20,000 pledge that he made after the fight at UFC 269. The UFC lightweight champion confirmed this and replied to Poirier’s tweet. He said, Hi! All good! The Diamond and I texted each other today to be in same page. Thanks @DustinPoirier. More new to come…”

He wasn’t done there and had high praise for the former interim UFC lightweight champion. Oliveira said, “Solid like a Diamond! Dustin is the ma’. A true champion in the life and in sports.”
