The UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling, recently joined Joe Rogan in the latest episode of his podcast. ‘Funk Master’ successfully retained his title at UFC 273. Ever since then, the bantamweight champion is in the headlines.
It was evident that both the big names from the sport will discuss a lot about the fight industry. And apparently, they did. During their conversation, while discussing Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley 2, Rogan stumbled upon the knockout controversy in their rematch.
While giving his honest thoughts about the same, Rogan said, “Some people are really dumb and they think that people choose to get knocked out on purpose for money. And someone said, oh he took a dive in that fight. I go, I don’t even think it’s possible for you to get hit like that and not go unconscious. Can’t you see the way he got hit? He got hit perfectly.”

The rematch happened on short notice. However, in their first fight, Paul defeated Woodley via a decision. But many fans weren’t convinced and accused Paul of signing a ‘No Knockout Clause’ with Woodley.
Hence, in their rematch, Paul offered extra money to his opponent to win via a knockout to break the claims. Eventually, ‘The Problem Child’ defeated ‘The Chosen One’ via a brutal knockout in the sixth round. But still, a few blamed Woodley for faking the knockout. However, Rogan doesn’t fall under this category.
Aljamain Sterling addresses his ‘faking’ accusations on the Joe Rogan podcast
Talking about a backlash from the fans, UFC champion Aljamain Sterling has had a fair share of it in his first UFC fight. At UFC 259, the then champion, Petr Yan landed an illegal knee in the fourth round of the fight with Sterling.

Therefore, Although Yan almost dominated the fight, he lost his title via disqualification. However, many fans were displeased by the results and also accused Sterling of faking too much in the fight.

In the same episode with Joe Rogan, Sterling addressed the fans’ reception of the result of the fight. He said, “It looked like I was faking. I’m like guys, I didn’t know there was a protocol on how you’re supposed to react after being illegally kneed into head from a shot you don’t expect to see; while you’re exhausted in a high-stakes fight… Was I supposed to pretend like I was being, like, Macho? Like, I’m just trying to gather myself.”
