Sports Doctor Refutes Dricus Du Plessis’ “Ridiculous” 8% Oxygen Intake Claim Amidst Israel Adesanya Beef

After Israel Adesanya trained his guns on Dricus Du Plessis, the MMA world is watching him keenly. After annihilating the top fighters in his division, Adesanya is looking for a worthy opponent and Du Plessis is not shying away from the challenge. Meanwhile, his coach Morne Visser has shared pieces of information on Du Plessis’ fitness. ‘Stillknocks’ had to undergo nasal surgery recently. In an Instagram post shared by the coach, he claimed that the African fighter has been fighting with only 8% oxygen intake for the past three years.

The coach mentioned that the nasal problem was the reason behind Du Plessis getting criticized for being gassed out during his fights. He hoped that the surgery should help him take on Adesanya with a full gas tank when it happens. Renowned sports doctor Brain Sutterer, however, has refuted the coach’s claims.

Doctor refutes 8% oxygen intake claims

Renowned sports doctor Brian Sutterer is an expert in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is very vocal on the internet. In a tweet he shared, that humans could not survive on 8% oxygen intake and debunked the claims made by Visser.

In his Instagram post, Visser wrote, He has just had a nose surgery which was supposed to happen 3 years ago. Total oxygen intake threw both his nostrils of about 8% for the last 3 years.”

Adesanya had called out Dricus Du Plessis earlier

Following his win over Alex Pereira, Adesanya had called out Dricus Du Plessis. He had talked about how he would drag Du Plessis’s carcass across Africa. Responding to the challenge, Du Plessis pointed out how Adesanya was living in New Zealand and how he, being from Africa, feared nobody.

Dricus Du Plessis has been on a great run. He is on a seven-fight win streak and has been fighting frequently. It appears that the nose was giving him serious trouble.
