The Nevada State Athletic Commission has suspended yet another athlete. A UFC fighter has been banned this time. As reported by David Purdum and Marc Raimondi to ESPN, this is the third instance a UFC fighter has been banned by the NSAC after the suspension of James Krause and Darrick Minner.

Mixedmartialarts.com posted on UFC flyweight Jeff Molina’s page that the fighter has been suspended by the NSAC. The reason behind the suspension is unknown. The suspension is claimed to have been marked “uncategorized” by a source who told ESPN about Molina’s suspension. The NSAC’s meeting in this matter will be held in January 2023.

Flyweight prospect Jeff Molina was set to face Jimmy Flick at UFC’s next event, UFC Fight Night, to be held on January 14, 2023. However, he withdrew from the fight and was replaced by Charles Johnson. ‘El Jefe’ was training under James Krause for a long time. But the UFC had banned fighters from participating in fights if they were training under Krause.

The fighter-turned-entrepreneur is already under suspension along with Minner. The suspension came in the wake of betting suspicions on Darrick Minner’s fight on November 5, 2022’s at UFC Fight Night, Las vegas. He was fighting Chinese featherweight Shayilan Nuerdanbieke.

Fans angry with UFC Fighter’s suspension

Some fans have reacted to Jeff Molina’s suspension on social media. One fan feels that the suspension’s “uncategorized” nature feels “weird”. Some couldn’t believe that ‘El Jefe’ was suspended, while some fans felt that Molina was getting his due. Several sources have claimed that Molina’s suspension is related to the Krause-Minner investigation. Meanwhile, UFC has revealed that the situation is being handled by certain government organizations. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is in charge of the investigation and is actively collecting information regarding betting suspicions. Jeff Mullen, executive director of the NSAC, has refused to comment on ‘El Jefe’ and his suspension. They will talk about the investigation after proper evidence is collected.

Molina hasn’t made any comment and denied ESPN’s request to do so. He is on a 3-fight win streak in the UFC. Notably, his last bout was against Zhalgas Zhumagulov in June. The 13th -ranked flyweight is only 25 years old and has his whole career ahead of him. He is also debated as one of the top 10 best MMA fighters under 25 years of age.
