Joe Rogan has amassed a huge audience not only with his supreme color commentary but also through his massively successful podcast on Spotify. ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ has been termed as an entertaining as well as a controversial show, quite a few times in the past. However, the success of the show partially goes to the platform it airs on. Initially, the beloved commentator premiered his show on YouTube. But the year 2020 displayed a jump when Rogan entered three and a half years of contract with the Swedish audio platform, for about $200 million dollars.

Semafor reported that the 55-year-old podcaster might not choose to renew his contract and sign with another independent audio company. They further claimed that Rogan’s ties with Spotify have frayed, and the one who recruited the commentator, Courtney Holt, is no longer a member of the Spotify staff.

Undeniably, the UFC commentator is an extremely valuable asset for the Swedish-origin audio platform. Therefore, the talks about Spotify trying to save its relationship with Rogan have also begun flying around. Moreover, Spotify has even denied that Rogan would bolt by 2024. Nonetheless, it’s only a matter of time before the podcaster gives his final verdict.

iTunes is out of the question

In a recent episode of JRE, Rogan seemingly compared Spotify with Apple’s iTunes. Surprisingly, the UFC commentator had nothing but praise for Spotify, thereby contradicting the aforementioned rumors. Rogan simply wasn’t impressed with iTunes.

He said, “No incentive for the people to have their podcast only on iTunes. One of the things that iTunes does it’s like a tremendous blunder. My opinion is, they never figured out a way to monetize podcast. So they act as an aggregator for podcast but they never make any money off of it which is nuts… It’s f*****g nuts!
