Never known to mince his words, the Mystic Mac said that he expected Wilder to launch one of his devastating KO punches and of course, offered advice on what he could have done. But the former UFC champion’s words didn’t come in the form of expert opinion, it came from the sheer disappointment in Wilder’s performance.

Conor McGregor expected a whistling backhand

Speaking to reporters after the fight, McGregor said, “I came out to see the whistling right hand of Deontay Wilder. Oh, I wanted to see it… You need to be changing the trajectory of the punch if you’re coming up over the top of the head, you need to come up under with the uppercut.”

McGregor added that at Wilder was jabbing and coming out of his stance. “Stand your ground at some stage”, he added before conceding that Wilder was in a great space in his head owing to the birth of his new baby. However, that was not enough for him to pick up the win.

The margins by which Wilder lost were rather massive and couldn’t be missed. Two of the judges scored Parker 118 while one scored him at 120. Meanwhile, Wilder struggled at scores that ranged from 108 to 111. Clearly, not something that’s too ideal for one of the best heavyweights out there.

McGregor may have been right when he said Wilder could have gone for more of an “uppercut”. However, things didn’t quite go his way. At the end of the day, Parker was just the better boxer. Meanwhile, McGregor got to enjoy the whole thing as he rubbed shoulders with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo was sitting right next to McGregor but their interaction that was filmed didn’t look too flawless. McGregor spent some time explaining his comeback to a guest right next to Ronaldo and the Soccer GOAT just laughed along the Irishman’s electric energy.

Later, the two would compare watches as McGregor looked back to acknowledge someone gesturing at him from behind. Clearly, a man with many priorities, McGregor was quite a social force at the event. Maybe Ronaldo wasn’t feeling too social this time around. The Al-Nassr player is often photographed with UFC fighters such as Khabib Nurmagomedov and others. Who is your favorite fighter that has met Ronaldo?
