While Amanda Nunes is widely regarded as the greatest female UFC fighter, none has come close to the popularity of Ronda Rousey. The former bantamweight champion, during her heydays, was one of the most recognized UFC fighters.

During her reign as a champion, the media blitz behind her was unimaginable. Every magazine and every TV show interviewed her, and she was even on the cover of the UFC 2 video game. Moreover, she even bagged several movie roles and made appearances on the red carpet.

Ronda Rousey attained Hollywood stardom when she secured a role in Sylvester Stallone’s starter, The Expendables 3. The movie perfectly capitalized on Rowdy’s skills as a mixed martial artist. However, she was just a little too good at getting into the character.

Ronda Rousey broke Patrick Hughes’s ribs

Patrick Hughes, who was the director of the movie, narrated a behind the scene incident that involved Rousey. He revealed how she broke his rib while trying to calm her nervous energy.

Hughes said, “Ronda’s first time ever on camera was the scene with Sly at a bar, and she’s really super nervous. I went up and said, “Well, what do you do before a big fight?” And she says, “I like to spar in my room. I get that nervous energy out.” And I said, “So you need to hit something? Let’s find something to hit.”
