Imagine being a black belt in taekwondo and BJJ, with additional training in kickboxing, and then some newbie makes disparaging claims that they’d knock you out. Doesn’t seem like something out of the realm of possibility, but what would your reaction be? You’d probably laugh it off, but deep down inside, you’d want to teach this chum a lesson. This is likely how the UFC color commentator and multimillion-dollar podcaster, Joe Rogan might have felt when he suddenly witnessed Stephen A. Smith calling him out for a fight. An alleged quote by Stephen A. Smith has resurfaced, leading many from within the MMA community to go after the veteran sports analyst.

‘Wake Awake Media’, a social media handle with a following base of 623k followers took to their X account to upload a video of Stephen A. showcasing his boxing skills, accompanied by a caption featuring a quote that was attributed to the American personality. According to the post, the American personality stated, “Let me be clear. If my right hand connects with the legend @joerogan, all due respect, he’s getting knocked out people.”

Let’s back up for a second, however. Did Stephen A. Smith really make this comment? Well, to everyone’s surprise, and possible disappointment – no, he didn’t. This was actually a fake quote that made the rounds in 2022 when a meme page made it famous. This quote has resurfaced online, two years after the meme was made, and MMA journalist and commentator Ben Davis was fooled by it. He took to his X to add a rather disparaging comment on Stephen A. Smith. “Stephen A. Smith is f**king stupid,” wrote Davis in his initial comments.

The journalist was later cleared by some fans, who came forward to state that the quote was nothing but a fake. Despite the confirmation, some other fans within the community were been fooled, and visibly outraged by the fake news.

The social media community was totally fooled by the aforementioned post, and one fan took out their anger on Stephen A. Smith, stating that they would wager a massive $1 million on Joe Rogan’s thundering kick. It must be noted that Rogan’s kicks are devastating and his signature question mark kick is so lethal that even Georges St-Pierre was impressed by it, asking the UFC color commentator to teach him his technique. Looking at this a fan wrote, “Wait, is this supposed to be a boxing match? Damn it! I just wagered $1m on Joe Rogan’s right leg kick making Stephen Smith 4 ft shorter.”

Another fan doubled down on the fact that Joe Rogan would absolutely obliterate Smith in a confrontation, “LMAO no way did @stephansmith actually say that. Rogan would destroy Smith. A wet paper bag would be a better start point for Smith. He might be able to win that one.”. Let’s not forget that Joe Rogan’s kick beat UFC light heavyweight Alex Pereira’s punching power record by 9 units on the PowerKube machine. A fan even came forward to shame Smith publicly, “That right there, ladies and gentlemen, is what a middle-aged man – who’s literally never been in a [physical] confrontation – looks like….when pretending that he would survive or even win during a physical confrontation.”

Another fan called out the American host for his comments, however, in reality, he never made it in the first place, “Worst troll attempt of the year right there!”. It was a prime example of misinformation. The video along with the fabricated post was made when former UFC fighter Kenny Florian chimed in recalling the infamous video where Smith was doing pad work with his buddy.

How bad would Joe Rogan mess Stephan A. Smith up in a street fight? Well, according to a fan, it would be nothing other than a massacre, “Damn. Joe Would kill Smith in a street fight. RIP my man.” Another fan echoed a previous sentiment about Stephan A. Smith never being in a confrontation, “That guy has never been in a fight…”
