Apart from the main event fight, there are several other highly anticipated fights scheduled to take place that night. One such fight is between welterweights Gilbert Burns and Stephen Thompson.

Recently, during an interview, ‘Wonderboy’ was seen talking about the much-awaited fight between Poirier and ‘The Notorious’ one.

Thompson believes that coming into this fight, Poirier will be much more confident than McGregor. He said, “I think definitely Dustin Poirier has the role of this fight just because he’s coming off the win TKO him I think in the second round. So he’s definitely coming in with the confidence for sure.”

Although ‘Wonderboy’ believes that McGregor has the ability to go out there and beat Poirier, he believes that for this to happen McGregor needs to get back to his original style.

“I think the person that really has to do most of the work, who has to do most of the changing, is going to be Conor McGregor. He’s got to get back to his karate style of fighting, not the boxing style which he’s been doing a lot of before his last fight.

“So hopefully, he’s an intelligent guy, hopefully, he gets back at his karate movement not taking that damage with his low calf kicks. But I do believe Conor still has the ability to go out there and beat Dustin Poirier.”

What to expect from the fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier?

McGregor and Poirier first faced each other back in 2014, at the UFC 178 event. The Irishman won that fight via a first-round TKO. Since then fans had been urging the fighters for a rematch and that happened in 2021.
