UFC 301 is around the corner, and for the main card, Australian fighter Steve Erceg will be taking on the current flyweight champion, Alexandre Pantoja in a title fight. The Australian sensation has had an 11-fight winning streak and has defeated the likes of Alessandro Costa and Matt Schnell, however, just like every other great fighter, Erceg’s career had its downtime.

Hailing from the streets of Perth, Australia Steve Erceg was born into a family of Croatian descent who spent their life in Australia. Erceg’s fascination with the world of MMA started when he witnessed Brock Lesnar taking on Frank Mir back in UFC 81. ‘AstroBoy’ professional career started back in early 2016 when he debuted in the Australian fighting promotion, Hex Fighting Series, and Eternal MMA. In his endeavor to become the flyweight champion of the promotion, Erceg defeated everyone who came his way except Sean Gauci. Erceg lost the fight by way of unanimous decision after fighting three rounds with him. Nonetheless, ‘Astroboy’ finally became the Hex’s flyweight champion and was signed by the UFC when he had a record of 9-1.
