UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s teammate Zubaira Tukhugov has missed weight ahead of UFC 284. The 32-year-old came in at 157.5 lbs for his lightweight debut. His fight against Elvis Brenner will proceed as scheduled. However, Tukhugov will lose 30% of his fight purse as a penalty for missing weight.

Tukhugov’s name gained more traction after the infamous UFC 229 brawl. He was one of the Team Khabib members who had a swing at Conor McGregor in the cage during the chaos post-fight. Tukhugov was scheduled to fight McGregor’s former teammate Artem Lobov later that year. However, the fight was canceled in the aftermath of the UFC 229 brawl.

Although Khabib Nurmagomedov’s team has a reputation for their disciplined approach to fighting, Tukhugov has had weight-cut issues before. The former featherweight struggled to make 145 lbs on multiple occasions. At UFC 253, Tukhugov came in four pounds over the featherweight limit for his fight against Hakeem Dawodu.

Tukhugov missed the featherweight mark again at UFC 280. He could not join his teammate on the UFC 280 card as he pulled out due to weight-cut complications. As a result, the UFC had to cancel his fight against Lucas Almeida.

Now, the Russian has missed weight again for a card headlined by teammate Islam Makhachev. Tukhugov also had some trouble getting his visa approved for traveling to Australia for the event. All things considered, the Russian seems to be a having a difficult time around this fight.
