After Poirier’s defeat, many have come forward to discredit his achievements so far. Among them was Colby Covington- a man who has had his issues with ‘The Diamond‘ and has spared no chance at mocking him. He had several things to say after Poirier’s recent loss.

Covington said, “You look at, you know, this bully that fought last night, you know. Dustin Soirier, you know, Louisiana swamp trash. He said a lot of things too in the media and now he’s saying he might come up to 170. He wants to come fight in a real man’s weight class. So this is another personal fight. These are different type of fights man.”

He further said, “This isn’t about the rankings. This is about personal grudges and, you know, being held accountable for your actions, you know. He’s said it’s on-site when I see you in the media, it’s this and that. He’s talking this big game like you know, he’s a street fighter, he’s some bada** fighter.”

“Stop cutting all the weight, Dustin. Come up to the real man’s weight class welterweight and let’s do this man. You talk too much sh*t… Stop cutting all that weight. Stop being a bully.”
What’s next for Colby Covington?
Covington is easily able to keep himself relevant, whether he is about to fight or not. While fans might find his interviews interesting, he is one good UFC fighter. ‘Chaos’ last fought against Kamaru Usman at UFC 268 and lost the title bout.

He has a rivalry with several fighters like Usman, Jorge Masvidal, and many others. After UFC 268, he even said that the fight with ‘Gamebred’ needs to happen.
While there is no fight for him in line yet, he is biding his time and working in the gym. Given his heel tendencies, he could enter a feud with anyone and make it compelling. However, after looking at his ranking, fights against Gilbert Burns or Vicente Luque make sense.
