In a recent interview leading to his fight against Brandon Moreno, the current 125 lbs champion Deiveson Figueiredo has revealed that he wants to move up to Bantamweight in the future. The duo is all set to face each other at UFC 283 for the fourth time. This is an interesting record as no two fighters have fought each other four times exclusively in the UFC. The rivalry between the duo has clearly been one of the most intense ones in the sport. Moreno‘s pre-fight words before their UFC 263 bout reflected the true magnitude of the bout.

While talking about his plans, the Brazilian pointed out his age as one reason for a jump to 135.

“I want to have this fight at flyweight but I want to move up to 135. I’m about to be 35 and I don’t want to put my body through too much at 125.” stated the Flyweight champion while talking to the UFC.

He also stressed the fact that making 125 pounds was hard, owing to too many complications in getting it right. “It’s a weight class where I have to do everything right to make weight and that stresses me a lot. That’s why I want to test myself at 135.” ‘Deus da Guerra’ further stated.

He also stated, “I could keep my belt at 125 in case I don’t move up. But the idea is to get a title shot at 135.” signaling that he might still compete at 125 lbs.
