

Conor McGregor suffered a nasty injury in his grudge match against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Since both fighters had a lot of animosity leading up to the bout, the outcome was a tough pill to swallow for ‘The Notorious’. Besides the agony, McGregor had to watch his own leg snap on the big screen.

The Irishman took to Instagram stories to share a clip of him processing the injury, while the official ref of the match, Herb Dean, had a couple of words to say to him.

‘The Notorious‘ captioned it, “Only the strong survive.” The video shows McGregor in complete shock as he saw the sequence playing in front of his eyes for the first time while holding his leg.

Herb Dean showed why he’s one of the top refs in the sport as he gave valuable instruction to McGregor to get some air in. “Breathe Conor,” he said. The veteran ref had the presence of mind to not let the Irish fighter think about the horrific injury at UFC 264.
Conor McGregor wants another crack at Dustin Poirier
This bout could’ve been the final chapter of an epic trilogy between McGregor and Poirier. However, after the contest, the Irish superstar distinctly mentioned to Joe Rogan in the Octagon interview, “This is not over.”

Poirier leads the series (2-1) with both victories coming at 155. Thus, ‘El Diamanté‘ has all the momentum if the two square off for a fourth time.

Is a fourth fight between ‘The Notorious’ and ‘The Diamond’ realistic?
After beating the biggest superstar in the UFC twice in one year, Poirier fought for the undisputed lightweight championship against Charles Oliveira. Though he had initial success, the Louisiana native couldn’t get past the Brazilian bonus machine. ‘Do Bronx’ cinched in a standing read-naked choke to submit the former interim lightweight champion at UFC 269.

While ‘El Diamanté’ is still a top-tier fighter in the lightweight division, he dropped two undisputed championship bouts. Thus, he teased a move to the welterweight division. McGregor has already competed in the welterweight division and has hinted at a return to 170 lbs as well. Considering these developments, the two could cross paths in the third division for their fourth fight.
