In what can best be described as the NFL version of the Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen 1 fight, the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Detroit Lions 34-31 in the nail-biting NFC championship game last night. After the Lions dominated the first half, the 49ers clawed their way from a 17-point deficit to qualify for their eighth Super Bowl appearance.

The 49ers will take on Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs on February 11 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona for a chance at their sixth Super Bowl win. While the San Francisco fans were undoubtedly delighted at their team’s performance, the game certainly took a toll on their nerves. And one such fan was Scott Coker who admitted to Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev coach, Javier Mendez that the game was incredibly stressful.

“They pulled out a really uh crazy crazy game last night that was so stressful. I think I lost five years off my life watching the last two ‘niner games. They won I think it was like 34 to 31 but they’re going to the Super Bowl… playing the Chiefs now,” Coker said.

Although his friend and former UFC lightweight Josh Thomson reminded him that the 49ers have not defeated the Chiefs since 2014, Coker was stoked for their chances at Super Bowl LVII. “I got to listen to Josh Thomson because he loves the Chiefs. He’s going to be my ear ‘yeah we always kick your ass’… This is a different year, bro. I love [Patrick] Mahomes and the Chiefs and I think they’re great, I love the coach but I think this is our year I think this is a special year,” he added. Coker’s optimism reflects the feeling of the wider 49ers’ fanbase, who think their team has a good chance to win the Super Bowl.

The Kansas City Chiefs have made their fourth Super Bowl appearance in the last five years, with a chance to win two Super Bowls back-to-back. The 49ers, on the other hand, have not won a Super Bowl since the turn of the century. This year, however, the 49ers are a very dangerous bunch, with nine of their players making the Pro Bowl.
