T.J. Dillashaw Ties Dominick Cruz To Create UFC History With Win Over Cory Sandhagen

T.J. Dillashaw made a successful return to the UFC Octagon after an absence of over 2 years. The former champion earned a split decision win over the No.2 ranked Cory Sandhagen. Dillashaw made UFC history in the process. He ties the consensus greatest 135 pounders of all time and his former opponent, Dominick Cruz for the most win in the bantamweight division in UFC and WEC history.
‘The Dominator’ had managed a massive 13 wins over the course of his illustrious career in UFC and WEC. Dillashaw, Takeya Mizugaki, Demetrious Johnson, Urijah Faber, and more are some of his most notable wins in the division’s history. Cruz was also a multiple-time world champion.
Cruz last fought at UFC 259 and earned a decision against Casey Kenney. Dillashaw, on the other hand, was absent from the sport for a considerable amount of time as he was banned by USADA for substance abuse.

But, he is back, and with a win over a contender like Sandhagen, he is primed to get a title shot next. As for Sandhagen, many believe ‘Sandman’ should have gotten the decision in his favor. But he displayed his quality as a fighter against Dillashaw. There were moments in the fight he was outclassing the former champion in the stand-up exchanges.
There is no doubt Sandhagen will be back stronger and with a win, he will reclaim his position as the next in line for a title shot. Despite losing Sandhagen has certainly earned a few fans with his performance.

What’s next for T.J. Dillashaw and Cory Sandhagen?
Dillashaw is primed to get a title shot in his next outing. However, he has indicated that he might fight again in the meantime if the timelines for a title fight are too long.
