The ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) houses some of the greatest combat athletes in grappling and submission. When talking about the ADCC, the one name that is synonymous with the Martial Arts club is Gordon Ryan, widely regarded as the King of his division.

A recent post uploaded by him on Instagram went viral, but not for the right reasons. The ADCC veteran was seen in a hospital bed, awaiting a tonsillectomy owing to a severely deviated septum. Fans, actors, and prominent athletes showed their support in the comment section. ‘Aquaman’ and ‘Fast & Furious’ actor Jason Momoa commented on the post to show his support. Other notable personalities like Georges St-Pierre and Chris Weidman also wished him a speedy recovery.

Fans and celebrities come through: Jason Momoa comments on the post

The heartbreaking picture, along with a detailed description of his severe condition, was genuinely moving. Naturally, his colleagues and athletes from other promotions showed their love and prayed for his recovery. ‘Aquaman’ actor Jason Momoa commented, “I’m sorry bro. take care take your time.” Former UFC Middleweight champion Chris Weidman commented, “Feel better soon brotha.” Georges St-Pierre dropped in to show support by writing, “Rest and comeback strong brother.”

Fans were also concerned. Comments like, “Make sure to replenish your food bacteria, fermented foods“, “Speedy recovery“, “Get well soon!”, and “Speedy recovery top dog – you’ll be back before you know it,” flooded in.

However, not all comments were out of concern. Adversary Nick Rodriguez commented, “Suffer in silence. You are soft.” Another fan jumped in, saying, “Who could guess that taking incredible amounts of steroids at the age of 25 would have some consequences, huh?

Gordon Ryan is respected by the MMA world

A decorated fighter, Gordon Ryan has been struggling with recurring health issues, leading to the intake of medications to aid in recovery. The entire MMA community, as well as people from different walks of life, showed up to wish King Ryan a speedy recovery. He is widely considered to be the greatest no-gi grappler and the greatest submission artist of all time. He has reigned as a three-time ADCC World Champion. His in-ring dominance is unquestionable.

The life of a combat athlete is riddled with injuries and health-related concerns. However, the fans never fail to show their support in times of need. Having dominated his division at the ADCC, it is yet to be seen if he can conquer the tonsil surgery and come back stronger than ever.
