Conor McGregor just can’t help but make the headlines. Whether he is off the octagon or in the arena, the Irish star has his fair share of opinions to share. This time around, it was an interview clip of Israel Adesanya that caught the fighter’s attention. The former champ seemed to be very vocal about his career and his last match in the clip and McGregor couldn’t hold back from spelling certain things out.

The tweet surfaced after Adesanya’s very unexpected loss against Sean Strickland, which made ‘Tarzan’ the new middleweight champion. ‘Izzy’ has been the most active champion in the roster and he felt like he needed to voice the sentiment during the conversation. This is where McGregor dove in as he additionally took a jab at Alexander Volkanovski.

Israel Adesanya losing the belt was heartbreaking for the star and his fans. After fending off multiple UFC stars for months, the fighter finally fell to Strickland, and the loss came as a shock. However, what looked like a devastating loss made the star promise that he will make a comeback after a short break.

He ensured that everyone knew how active he was as champion. In fact, there was only one name that could parallel him. “14 months, four fights as a champion,” Adesanya said. “Find any other champion apart from me and Volk who is as active like that.”

Furthermore, he mentioned how he wanted to fight as much as possible because he would miss the sport when his career reaches its twilight. However, retirement isn’t in the cards for the fighter any time soon.

The actual twist in the story came when McGregor replied to the surfaced video. In fact, ‘The Notorious’ nudged Adesanya to get his title back from Strickland. While backing the former champion, the Irishman also made sure he put down Alexander Volkanovski in true ‘Notorious’ style. He wrote, “And volk couldn’t hold my spit bucket. “

Nonetheless, the Irishman has called on ‘Izzy’ to “rest up” and “get that belt back” once he’s done resting. After fighting so many matches in such little time, Adesanya has nothing left to prove. However, getting the belt back would add another win to his illustrious career, as well as reinstate him as the rightful champion. And the 34-year-old seems to be on a lookout for exactly that!

Adesanya made sure he gave himself the appreciation he deserved, but also didn’t hold back from speaking positively about Strickland. The truth is, Adesanya was beaten fair and square by ‘Tarzan’ and he admitted to the same. In the interview clip, the fighter’s applaud for the talented Strickland is loud and clear.

He said, “I don’t make any excuses. Strickland got me on the night because he was a better fighter on the night.” Apart from praising his opponent, the words clearly indicated a dedicated thought process, especially post the loss, to ensure a satisfactory next battle.
