Joe Rogan has become an indispensable part of the UFC viewing experience, thanks to his commentary and Octagon interviews. But does that elevate him to the same level as the UFC greats (as in fighters)? His commentary deskmate Jon Anik passionately argues that no one is more deserving of the UFC Hall of Fame status than Joe Rogan.

Jon Anik has expressed a strong belief that Joe Rogan deserves a spot in the contributors’ list ͏of the UFC Hall of Fame. He acknowledged the significance of the UFC Hall͏ of Fame as the ultimate platform for career recognition. Let ͏us take a better look at what Anik had to say.

Anik, the UFC’s primary play-by-play commentator, confidently identified certain fighters as guaranteed entra͏nts into the UFC Hall of Fame in the upcoming 2024 class and anticipat͏es their continued recognition in the years to come.

While there aren’t explicit criteria for the annual selection of individuals into the UFC Hall of Fame’s modern-era, pioneer, fight, and contributor wings, Anik has a perspective on two non-fighter personalities deserving recognition. These individuals are considered institutions within the promotion. The first one is Joe Rogan and the second is Bruce Buffer.

While having a conversation with “MMA Junkie” Anik explained that Joe Rogan should be on the Hall of Fame list. “I wonder if at this point in time, Joe Rogan has respectfully declined a UFC Hall of Fame invitation. It’s an eventuality that Joe Rogan is going to go into the UFC Hall of Fame, and I would love for that to happen spontaneously, live on a UFC broadcast,” said Anik.

Anik emphasized that the contribution that Rogan has made to the UFC is so immense that it would take days to recollect it. “To sit here and talk about that man’s contributions to the growth of MMA would be such a long conversation. He has just done so much for our sport and for so many individuals within it.” Anik is hopeful that Rogan will be entering the Hall of Famer status soon.

He further emphasized that the other person who deserves the UFC HoF is the voice of the promotion, Bruce Buffer who has been with the organization for almost three decades now. He said, “I hope Bruce Buffer follows him shortly thereafter or precedes him because I’d like to see Buffer able to go in, you know, and I guess I can say this right now. You know, Bruce Buffer’s been dealing with some stuff around the holidays, and um, you know, I just would like to see him get in sooner rather than later. You know, his mother passed away.” Interestingly, Rogan and Buffer were not the only ones who he thought should be in the UFC HoF.

Anik recommends UFC legend for HoF status

Tony Ferguson at one point had the longest win streak in the UFC 155 lbs division. However, now he is tied for the longest losing streak in the UFC with a 0-7 record in his last seven outings. Ferguson was at the prime of his career when a knee surgery took his mantle away from him and since his fight against Justin Gaethje at UFC 249, he has not been the same. His fight with Michael Chandler and Paddy Pimblet was brutal. However, Jon Anik Believes that Ferguson deserves his chance on the list.

In the same conversation, Anik emphasized that he would fight anyone to put him on the list. “I will fight like hell for Tony Ferguson to get in. I think sometimes the interim champions can become interesting cases. But maybe I won’t have to fight for Tony.”

It must be noted that Anik’s observation about the Hall of Fame is based on his own opinion and not any official announcement. However, it would not be wrong to state that Anik’s pick for HoF is rather respectable. What’s your take on Anik’s opinion?
