UFC heavyweight Tanner Boser took to Twitter after UFC 266 and shared his views on a certain main card fight. Although UFC 266 had two stellar title fights, the return of Nick Diaz after over six years captured everyone’s attention. Nick Diaz has always been a fan favorite and he’s now been introduced to the newer fans of the sport.

However, his return was spoiled by Robbie Lawler who earned a TKO over a downed opponent in round 3. ‘Ruthless’ successfully avenged his defeat from 17 years ago and is 5-0 in the UFC when it comes to rematches. While some fans were disappointed that Nick Diaz lost, it’s hard to bet against another fan-favorite in Lawler.

However, some fans bashed Diaz for the way in which he was defeated. After absorbing some significant punishment and seemingly breaking his nose, Diaz elected not to continue. He was rocked with a punch and decided to remain on the canvas until referee Jason Herzog called off the fight. While some fans trolled Diaz for seemingly ‘giving up’, Tanner Boser jumped to Nick Diaz’s defence.

What’s next for Nick Diaz from here?

After expressing some rather concerning sentiments about the fight game and being 38 years old now, there are a lot of questions about Nick Diaz. His best days are certainly behind him, but it seems like he still has an innate desire to compete.

There are plenty of match-ups against legends of the welterweight division that would be a good fit for Nick Diaz. Fighters such as Jim Miller who are still active as well as names like Dan Hardy are appealing stylistic options. Not to mention, neither fighter is primed to fight for gold so the overall skill level would be largely similar.

Fans of Stockton’s favorite son would want to see him secure a victory and fight to the best of his abilities. Despite the loss in his return, he showcased that he’s still extremely durable and also continues to be a voluminous puncher.
