Unbeaten UFC strawweight prodigy, Tatiana Suarez (9-0-0) outlines her interest in fighting former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk before she retires. Speaking with Dave Schmulenson & Helen Yee, Suarez shed light on her possible return in 2022. Recently, she recovered from a knee injury in 2021 that kept her out of the sport.

The American mixed martial artist is eyeing her return to the Octagon in the fall of 2022. She has picked out her targets quite carefully, which could only yield great news for her fans. During a conversation at the Schmozone podcast, Schmulenson quizzed her about her interest in jumping between flyweight and strawweight divisions.

Suarez made it quite clear that she would like to face Jedrzejczyk over Carla ‘Cookie Monster’ Esparza and Valentina ‘The Bullet’ Shevchenko. She said,” I think she would retire first, so I want to fight her first. Because like you know how she was gone for a while, and then she came back. Like I don’t know, I just feel like if someone beats her, she’ll probably be like…yeah, I don’t know how to explain it. Yeah, so I feel like I gotta get in there before she decides, eh? I don’t wanna fight no more.”

In a similar fashion, even ‘The Bullet’ has suggested that she would like to fight until she turns 50. Schmo compared her with Brady, and even Suarez agreed with the comparison, as the Kyrgyzstani-Peruvian fighter is gearing up for her 7th title defense at UFC 275.

If she manages to get past her next opponent in Taila Santos, Shevchenko would etch her name as the greatest female UFC champion. No other champion has defended her title 7-times in a row.
