UFC‘s 155 lbs division does not have any champion right now. At UFC 274, former lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira defeated the title challenger Justin Gaethje, but he himself was not eligible to win the belt. Yet, he remains the top name to beat in the division.

Do Bronx‘ might face Khabib Nurmagomedov’s ally and streaking lightweight Islam Makhachev for the vacant title. ‘The Eagle‘ has already predicted how he thinks a contest between an 11-fight win-streak holder and a 10-fight win-streak holder will go down. Now, Oliveira’s coach has responded to the undefeated fighter.

Oliveira’s coach Diego Lima compared Nurmagomedov to Conor McGregor. Besides, he wants a special contract from the Dagestan-based athlete’s team if his student beats Makhachev.

Lima said, “He [Khabib Nurmagomedov] is doing exactly what he criticized about McGregor. If he is so sure that Makhachev will beat Charles, why [not] send a ‘double contract’ guaranteeing he would face Charles in case of Islam’s loss?”

Nurmagomedov offered his longtime training partner, Islam Makhachev, to dominate the former lightweight champion. Consequently, coach Lima wants ‘The Eagle’ to put his money where his mouth is and accept a title fight with the Brazilian if he hands Makhachev his second loss in the promotion.

Oliveira has looked phenomenal lately. His current win streak is like the lightweight greats, Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov, had in their run. One advantage ‘Do Bronx‘ might have over them is his finish rate inside the Octagon.

Will Khabib Nurmagomedov accept a proposal from team Charles Oliveira?

‘The Eagle’ retired from the sport of mixed martial arts two years ago at UFC 254. His phenomenal performance against Justin Gaethje was the last of his career. With a 29-0 record, he left the sport unscathed.

The Dagestan-born’s retirement was not because of a lack of motivation for sport or financial issues with the UFC; Nurmagomedov retired for personal reasons.

UFC President Dana White did his best to lure him to compete inside the Octagon or even in the ring again. But even a $100 million offer wasn’t enough for Khabib Nurmagomedov. Thus, it’s tough to imagine ‘The Eagle‘ returning for any contest.
