Islam Makhacehv just fought Dustin Poirier at UFC 302 and emerged victorious in his endeavor against the Louisiana native. Ahead of their clash, McGregor took to his social media handles and called Islam Makhachev alongside the entire team Khabib to keep themselves clean. “Yous absolute scruffy f—ks I’m sick of yous. Wash your f—king self! Wash your clothes! Wash your mats! And do it f—king everyday you scruffy c—ts. [sick emoji].”  McGregor has since deleted this but it seems like the head coach of team Khabib believes that this scuffle might act as a catalyst for their fight.

Javier Mendez is optimistic about Conor McGregor vs. Islam Makhachev in future

Conor McGregor calling Islam Makhachev “Inbred” didn’t go unnoticed by the lightweight champion. While having a conversation with the media, Makhachev was asked about his opinion on fighting McGregor. The champion stated that he would like to have a team vs. team clash with McGregor, as this will be the final showdown between them. “When we meet, his team and my team in the street somewhere and we have a good fight. We all have many, many big experiences in the street and we just want to meet them and finish all those,” said Makhachev via ESPN.

Islam Makhachev seems to have invited Conor McGregor for a street fight but the former dual-weight champion has yet to respond to this. Well, the head coach of the team Khabib, Javier Mendez, believes that the constant callouts by ‘Notorious’ might work in their favor as this could act as the starting point of a fight between McGregor and Makhachev in the future.

“It’s kind of funny how little, simple things people notice can change things. Like, Conor goes and starts a rant, creating drama with Islam, which is kind of good because Conor is the kind of guy you want to root against or root for. Regardless, everybody wants to see him. Me, I want to see him get beat by Islam,” said Mendez via Red Corner MMA.

He further added, “So, for me, him doing what he’s doing is causing a lot of attention. There wouldn’t be anything better for me and Khabib than to have Islam have a fight with him somewhere down the line. He brought that staff up, which is very observant on his part, to be honest with you. Very observant on his part. The only thing is that, you know, he observed it way too late. At the time he mentioned that, it was already three weeks past.”

Javier Mendez might believe that a clash between Islam Makahchev and Conor McGregor is plausible in the future but what does the lightweight champion think about this? Let’s find out.

Islam Makhachev’s thoughts on fighting with McGregor

Mendez might think that their clash is possible but what about Makhachev? Well, the undisputed lightweight champion has already challenged Conor McGregor for a street fight which is yet to be answered by the former dual weight champion. However, when it comes to a one-on-one fight, Makhachev is not interested in it.

While having a conversation with ESPN, Makhacehv said, “It’s good memories, you know, makes me like excited. Beat Conor, beat his whole team again. It’s going to be fun you know, fun time. We’re in a different level right now. Beat him, make good money and that is it. But I don’t (think) he is my level fighter.” The lightweight champion was a part of the team that attacked McGregor after Khabib Nurmagomedov emerged victorious back in UFC 229.

A clash between them is not possible at this moment as Makhachev is looking to have an adventure in the welterweight division but UFC is unpredictable and who knows if they could clash in the future? What are your thoughts on this? State your opinions in the comments below.
