As the date of UFC 306, dubbed “Riyadh Season Noche,” approaches, the hype for the highly anticipated bantamweight title fight between Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley is intensifying. Every MMA analyst is weighing in on the matchup, and recently, O’Malley’s head coach, Tim Welch, appeared in a reputed MMA media outlet for an interview where he disclosed details about Merab Dvalishvili’s ‘Kryptonite.’

I think we’re going to find out,Tim Welch told Red Corner MMA.I believe it’s going to be the tall, lanky, fast striker who can keep their distance so well. He’s so fast and has so much confidence in all four of his limbs; he can hit from where you’re not even prepared. His eyes are so good, his reaction time is so good, and I think that’s going to be Merab’s Kryptonite tonight.”

Tim Welch might not be entirely wrong about Merab Dvalishvili’s speed. Dvalishvili’s impressive resume shows his remarkable pace. Currently, on a 10-fight winning streak, the Georgian fighter’s speed is evident. While Welch’s analysis of Dvalishvili’s struggles against fast strikers seems valid, it’s not entirely accurate. Dvalishvili has successfully defeated several top-tier strikers in the UFC, such as Jose Aldo and Marlon Moraes, indicating that his skills extend beyond his perceived weaknesses.

Lately, Sean O’Malley’s head coach and Merab Dvalishvili have been at the center of a heated verbal dispute. The conflict erupted when Dvalishvili accused coach Welch of disrespecting him in a video that recently surfaced online. In the video, Welch impersonated Aljamain Sterling’s corner, encouraging him to fight O’Malley for the title. Sterling then proceeded to knock out O’Malley, and Dvalishvili responded with a furious reaction to Welch’s actions.

Merab Dvalishvili addresses conflict with Sean O’Malley’s coach

Usually, before a fight, there’s always high tension between the fighters, but it’s rare to hear about a fighter and his opponent’s coach escalating the tension. Sean O’Malley’s coach is known for his unconventional tactics, often going to extreme lengths to give his fighter an edge. Following this pattern, Welch has recently mocked Merab Dvalishvili and his close friend Aljamain Sterling. However, Dvalishvili has had enough and will no longer tolerate such provocations.

In a recent interview with renowned MMA reporter Damon Martin, Merab Dvalishvili made it clear that he’s had enough. He said, “I have a problem with his coach, Tim,” Dvalishvili said. “He was very disrespectful to me and he was doing stupid [stuff] and not respectful [things]. Any real coach should never do that, whatever he was doing. Even now he’s talking on his podcast, like making fun of my height, making fun of my nose, even now some fans said some stupid things. Nothing is real.”
