‘The Rock’s philanthropy shines bright! After Hollywood MMA icon Michael Jai White and his wife joined the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike alongside Hollywood top guns and A-listers like George Clooney and Mark Ruffalo, the fight for equitable pay and improved work conditions for the behind-the-scene wizards like writers and movie staff has gained much traction.

Now, one of Hollywood’s biggest names has poured in his support for the protesters. And that too – with a 7-figure donation that goes directly to a relief fund. Yes, we’re talking about Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Considering ‘The Rock’s initial struggling days in Hollywood, it’s safe to say that he can relate to the struggles of these behind-the-scenes workers. Though the exact amount has not been disclosed, Johnson’s seven-figure donation is the largest lump sum the foundation has received from a single donor since it was founded in 1985, according to the ‘Rock’s representatives. Moreover, an award-winning movie director has now come out appreciating the Hollywood star’s philanthropic gesture.

In a recent story uploaded to Instagram, Director Shaun Piccinino extends his regards to the $800 million movie star. Shaun is an award-winning Film and Television Director with some top-shelf movies and feature films to his credit. He is also White’s director in his recently released movie ‘The Island,’ which has garnered quite a lot of attention. 

Thanking the Fast and Furious actor, the 35-year-old shared a heartfelt message for the Hollywood megastar on his Instagram story. The story caption read: “Thanks Dwayne for always leading with your heart.”

To clarify for those who don’t know what’s happening: the behind-the-scenes workers that make Hollywood movies possible are on strike. Therefore, they are not working or getting paid. Johnson helped to subsidize some of these protesters’ income out of his pocket, sharing a 7-figure donation to the SAG-AFTRA Relief Fund to support their cause, so they can still pay their bills.

But this is not the first time that the Baywatch star has donated ridiculous amounts. Back in October last year, he donated $100,000 to MrBeast, the infamous YouTuber. Why? Well, the YouTuber challenged Johnson to a rock-paper-scissors game – and the 25-year-old ended up winning. 

Despite amassing an immense fortune, the ‘Rock’ is always close to his roots. Through his active philanthropy efforts, he has often inspired others to help those in need. Moreover, the 51-year-old has a deep affection for children. moreover, he supports numerous charities and foundations that help kids have a better life and an equal shot at the American dream.

According to the Look to the Stars website, the ‘Rock’ is the anchor for 12 major foundations. Some notable mentions include DJ Rock Foundation, I Have a Dream Foundation, Kids Wish Network, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Parkinson Society Maritime Region, and Red Cross among others.
