Conor McGregor, the former two-weight UFC champion, once encountered his body double, and the meeting was amusing. Here is a recap of the event that transpired during their encounter.

Apart from his amazing fighting skills, ‘The Notorious’ is famous for his charismatic and funny persona. This has produced some of the most hilarious moments in his career. One of those events is McGregor’s meeting with his body double.
Back in 2015, the Dublin-born UFC fighter was in a league of his own. He was on a stunning five-fight win streak and had already become a star in the promotion. It was announced that he will be fighting for the featherweight gold next, against the Brazilian champion Jose Aldo at UFC 189.

To promote the much-anticipated featherweight title fight, the UFC held a 12-day world tour. It was then that McGregor met his body double William Joe Tussing in Las Vegas. Initially, the Irish star clicked pictures with Tussing and asked him not to smile.

Later, as McGregor left Tussing’s sight, he said, “Motherf**ker don’t look like me,” to the camera. It seemed like the UFC star wasn’t convinced Tussing looked like him, and definitely, he was right to an extent.

Conor McGregor: First title fight in the UFC
Despite all the tours and promotion, the hyped featherweight title fight between McGregor and Aldo didn’t take place at UFC 189, as the latter pulled out of the bout because of an injury.

Therefore, an interim title fight was set between the Irish star and Chad Mendes to headline UFC 189. ‘The Notorious’ won the fight via a second-round knockout and became the new interim champion.

Later, he unified the interim title and fought for the ultimate price, the featherweight gold, against Jose Aldo in the same year at UFC 194. McGregor made history by winning that title fight in just 13-seconds of the first round. And became the new featherweight king of the UFC.

Following that, ‘The Notorious’ hit a few other milestones in his fighting career, including- dual weight champion, boxing crossover with Floyd Mayweather, hefty pay-per-view sales, and more- to be named the greatest in the sport.
