The world of mixed martial arts would always remain incomplete without the mention of Conor McGregor. The former UFC double champion has been praised by millions to have lifted the sport higher than ever. Although the fighter was away from the frontlines for a couple of years following a gruesome injury at UFC 264, his return to TUF as a coach against Michael Chandler raised waves of excitement throughout the world. However, his team faced back-to-back defeats against Team Chandler.
Nevertheless, in a recent interview on ‘The Project’, the ‘Mystic Mac’ revealed how much he loved to coach people in combat sports. When asked whether he would teach the youngsters after getting old, McGregor gracefully failed to keep his thoughts to himself. He revealed his desire to coach after talking about his previous experience at the SBG. He also revisited the times when a handful of euros got him through the week.

Conor McGregor recalls his early days as a coach
McGregor recently appeared on ‘The Project’ TV show where he was asked whether he would like to take up the role of a coach in the future. After garnering experiences from TUF and SBG, ‘The Notorious’ seemed prompt at teaching martial arts. However, he couldn’t forget the hard times he had to endure during his early days.
The $200 million dollars worth fighter recalled the time when he used to coach at John Kavanaugh’s gym, the Straight Blast Gym, or SBG. McGregor said, “You know, I used to coach in my coach’s gym, John Kavanaugh’s gym, SBG. I used to be the boxing coach. I used to also coach a boxer size class for women. I used to coach my mother and my sisters, their friends. They used to pay me €5 a class. And that money used to supply me with food for the week.”
“Sometimes only one lady would show up and I’d coach them for €5. And I would take that €5 and I would buy myself a pack of chicken filets, some broccoli, and… tomato sauce. And that would feed me for the whole week.”

Will McGregor coach after getting old?
The Irishman claimed that he loved coaching. He additionally talked about how he could completely immerse himself in the sport.
He said, “I love coaching. Coaching, for me, you know, you must think about the craft more, you must think about why you’re teaching these moves, the meaning behind them, and you must immerse yourself more into the game… I love coaching and I will for sure coach in the future.”
