Dan Hooker has had two losses in a row in the UFC, and those losses have seen him go down in the rankings. The lightweight champion is now looking to make a strong comeback with his next fight.
Hooker was in great form before losing the fight against Dustin Poirier. The fighter had defeated James Vick, Al Iaquinta, and Paul Felder prior to that.
Although Hooker has lost two fights, he remains one of the best lightweight fighters in the UFC. ‘The Hangman’ is now looking to get back in the ring with a bang and wants to fight a former champion.

Does Dan Hooker want to fight a former champion?
Hooker is still No.8 in the UFC lightweight rankings and there are many opponents he can face. Hooker has two people in mind that he wants to fight, and one of them is not really a possibility right now.
“Obviously, there’s only two real names out there at the moment and that’s Gaethje or RDA, Gaethje, I feel will sit and wait. His most recent defeat is to Khabib. Like a lot of people, if you give that enough time, he’ll brush that off,” he said.

Who you face and who you lose or win against affects your title chances. Hooker knows Gaethje is in a great position right now, and facing Hooker could hamper his chances.

“Gaethje right now is in a position for a huge opportunity. It would be dangerous for him to fight a guy like RDA. It’ll be very dangerous for him to fight a guy like me and give me an opportunity to jump the queue again and get in a position like that.”
So that leaves one and possibly the best option for Hooker, and that is fighting Rafael dos Anjos. Dos Anjos is a former UFC champion and is currently ranked N0.7 in the UFC Rankings.
