Dustin Poirier puts the UFC and Dana White on notice for his return
Dustin Poirier has become a fan favorite in the UFC for his all-action fighting style and incredible striking skills. The Louisiana native is poised for a potential Hall of Fame-worthy career, having secured notable victories over fighters such as Conor McGregor, Eddie Alvarez, Max Holloway, and Justin Gaethje.
Poirier’s last appearance inside the Octagon saw him lose via a devastating head-kick against Gaethje. During a recent guest appearance, the lightweight contender addressed questions about his preference or the “dream scenario” for his return.
Poirier explained that he is only looking for a fight that will put him back into title contention. Or a fight that holds significance due to its magnitude. Poirier stated, “A fight that guarantees me a title fight, or a really big fight, something that I’m super excited about doing. That’s all I want.”

He stated, “Like I’ve said in all these interviews, I’m probably not going to fight at [UFC] 400, I missed 200 — 300 would be awesome to have on the résumé.” The lightweight fighter is keen on facing the right opponent. He emphasized the need for a fight that either ensures a title shot or holds significant magnitude, something that genuinely excites him.
Poirier trusts the UFC and Dana White to align him with a matchup that makes sense for UFC 300. The landmark event is set to emanate from April in Las Vegas. It’s unclear whether the American’s inclusion in the historic card will become a reality in the coming months.
