For a while now, it has been rumored that UFC bantamweight legend Dominick Cruz will take on fellow bantamweight contender Marlon Vera. However, there has not been any official announcement from the UFC yet. Although, MMA journalist Ariel Helwani said the fight between Cruz and Vera will take place in Boston. When UFC President Dana White was asked about it, he completely denied it.

White said, “In Boston? No. No. How would Ariel Helwani know?… That’s hilarious.” When asked if the UFC was working on a potential fight between Cruz and Vera, White answered, “Chito Cruz is definitely being worked on.”
White was further asked if the fight between Cruz and Vera would serve as a title eliminator. Reacting to it, White said, “I don’t know. I don’t know. We will have to see how that fight plays out. But obviously, you know, you got Yan, you got Dillashaw, you got Jose Aldo, you know the ranked number 3 in the world. Yeah, that’s a nasty little division right now, man.”

This reaction of White to comments made by Ariel Helwani is not surprising. The UFC once even banned Ariel Helwani from UFC press conferences.

The world of MMA is a strange place. While many people believe that both White and Helwani did not have a good relationship, that is not the case.

However, it all started when MMA superstar Brock Lesnar was going to make his return to the octagon in UFC 200. The news of Lesnar’s return was something that was supposed to be kept under the wraps.
Helwani, though, had already announced Lesnar was going to return to UFC 200. Later that night, the UFC confirmed Lesnar’s return. However, Helwani was banned from all future UFC press conferences.
